On Wednesday, May 2, 2012 I had the amazing opportunity to attend the QVC Beauty Event, which was held at Cedar Lake Studios in New York City on the ground floor.   This was a fabulous location.  It had lots of space, which was perfect for the many QVC Beauty brands onsite, such as Perricone M.D., WEN Haircare, Sephora, Mally Beauty, Laura Geller, Philosophy, Bliss, Fresh, Josie Maran, Tarte, Algenist, Makeup For Ever, Lipstick Queen, Alterna, and IT Cosmetics.

I love QVC! Not only for beauty products, but for home items as well because they showcase exclusive items from product lines I love for great deals.  That is where my husband got my Vitamix, and where I bought my television.  Sometimes I stay up all night watching because of the deals, and because it’s entertaining.  Laura Gellar, especially, and she is the same in-person.  I loved meeting her.

Laura Gellar

What was the event for?

Last year, I attended the QVC Beauty Breakfast, where they showcased new products for the new season.  This event was the same; attendees were given the opportunities to learn about the brands, the products they’re launching for summer and the seasons to come, as well as chat with some of their creators.  Cool, right?

That was enough chit chat, now off to discuss (and show you) some of the new products along with their launch dates, showcased at the QVC Beauty event.

WEN Haircare

I’m going to start off with WEN Haircare.  I’ve been using WEN since being introduced to it at last year’s QVC Beauty event.  I’ve talked about it many, many times on this blog and on twitter, and how I’ve introduced it into my haircare routine.  Needless to say, I love WEN products, so it was very nice to meet Chaz Dean (owner of WEN Haircare) and his sister again.  Interacting with Chaz, and having him use his products (Six Thirteen Replenishing Treatment Mist) on me was a very unique experience, he’s a gem!

There’s a new Cleansing Conditioner coming for summer called Summer Mango Coconut and it smells so yummy and tropical! This is 16 oz for approximately $29, and launches June 1st.  Laura Gellar stated it made her feel like she was in the Caribbean.

Chaz Dean using the 6 13 Replenishing Mist

Launching in June is the Six Thirteen Ultra Nourishing Replenishing Treatment, if you like the regular replenishing mist, you will fall head-over-heels for this one.  After spraying it in my hair, my hair was super duper soft, shiny and moisturized.  It smelled AMAZING!!!  Six Thirteen includes amino acids, peptides, restorative extracts and botanicals for rejuvenation of hair, body and face. It comes in Lemon Rosemary Vanilla Bean and retails for approximately $26.

Philosophy

I fell in-love literally, with Philosophy’s ‘Falling in-love Summer’.  It reminded me of an old favorite of mine by Trish McEvoy.   There were samples of each of the new scents sprayed on a piece of satin cloth, and I couldn’t stop smelling the one sprayed with ‘Falling in-love Summer’.

Tarte

I’ve been using Tarte’s Maracuja oil as part of my nighttime skincare routine.  It makes my skin super duper soft and supple.  It is nice to see that they have opted to make a travel-size for this product.  I also learned that you can put it in your hair! I haven’t tried it that way as of yet, but, I will let you know how it well it works when I do.  The ladies representing Tarte were very engaging and nice too!

Tarte also introduced their Maracuja Miracle Foundation – at QVC, you will get the foundation and an exclusive brush.  This set will be available in July, and retail for approximately $44.50. The foundation will be available in five shades.  The brush is the exclusive.  On the low, we were told that the foundation will be available in 10 shades, but will be sold outside of QVC.  Thank God because I would really love to try this out.

Tarte is also releasing Rainforest Glow, a hydrating body bronzer that will retail for about $34, for those of you who are afraid of self-tanners.

Algenist

I didn’t know too much about this anti-aging skincare line formulated with a breakthrough ingredient, alguronic acid, so it was nice to get to learn about it in-person.  I was amazed at the fast results (90 seconds fine lines were reduced) of the Targeted Deep Wrinkle Minimizer (.5 oz), which retails for approximately $45.   I don’t have any wrinkles, but, it is never too early to start preventing.

Bliss

You know I am a self-waxer, and I LOVE Bliss’ Poetic Wax (my review).  Needless to say, I am excited that they now have Poetic Waxing Wax Strips for the Face and Body.

You heat the strips up between your hands, pull off the paper backing, apply, rub and pull. It’s simple!

Next to the strips is Bliss’ popular Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask. It’s one of their best sellers, and has 50 facials per 3.4 oz bottle. You’re getting your monies worth.

Bliss is also releasing their That’s Incredi-’peel’ Resurfacing Overnight Peel Pads, retailing for approximately $73.50 for 30 pads.  The pads are large enough to cut in half and use ½ a pad per night.  I used this pad the night after the event, and it is AMAZING!!!  My skin not only looked brighter, but was smoother and supple the very next day.  The only thing is it does sting a little when you’re applying it.

Josie Maran

Josie Maran making pregnancy look beautiful

Josie Maran is popular for her Argan oil based skincare.  Two things that stuck out to me were the following products:

Self-Heating Argan Oil Hair Treatment, will retail for approximately $36, and is releasing in August.  This means no waiting for your oil to heat up in hot water or sitting under the dryer for your hot oil treatments.

Whipped Argan Oil with a luminous sheen, retailing for approximately $30, and is also coming out in August.  Josie Maran had it on during the event, and her skin had that “J-Lo Glow”.  It was beautiful. I can definitely see it looking great on darker skintones.  Unfortunately, this was not in our swag bag. .:Sigh:.

Go Smile

Go Smile's new Toothpase

In my world ugly teeth and beauty do not mix.  I spent a lot of time at the Go Smile booth because I am obsessed with nice looking teeth.  Go Smile teeth whitening products go beyond the surface when whitening your teeth.  I believe that when your teeth are perfectly white or straight, you will have an added confidence.   It was nice to learn more about the product. I can’t wait to try this at-home system and report on it.

Sephora

Sephora by OPI 15-piece Nail Color Collection is launching in November with a price tag of $44, which includes an exclusive mini bottles of QVC What I Mean (a rich mauve tone), it also has 14 mini bottles of popular Sephora by OPI shades (Nonfat Soy Half Caff, A True Romantic, Keep Me On My Mistletoe, Under My Trench Coat, Looks Like Rain Deer, Sample Sale, And a Cherry On Top, What Aura Gonna Where?, Metro Chic, Henna-Thing is Possible, Just a Little Dangerous, It’s Bouquet with Me, Break a Leg-Warmer! and Mermaid to Order.)

Coming in July/August is Sephora by OPI Gel Shine, a new line of gel nail polishes.

I’ve only used Kat Von D’s Setting Spray, so it was good to try her Tattoo Concealer.  This is a full-coverage concealer.  It blends very well and is waterproof!  At the event there weren’t too many shades at the darker end of the spectrum, which is really unfortunate.  It seemed like a great product to add to my kit.

Fresh

I’m familiar with a few of the Fresh Brown Sugar products; however, during this event I was introduced to their Elixir Ancien, which is made in a monastery in France, and production is very limited, which would explain the expensive price tag of $260 per 1.7 oz bottle.  The Elixir Ancien is used to heal the wounds of gladiators and the formula has been around for 2,000 years.

Coming to QVC in July is the same Elixir Ancien, half the size .5 oz and will cost approximately $50, which is in my budget.

Lipstick Queen

Poppy King aka Lipstick Queen

Poppy King is introducing a new three-piece, New York City-themed lipstick set called Liptropolis.  It’s the first volume in her lipstick library series, and features three shades from red (SoHo), coral (Central Park), to a light nude pink (Upper East).  The Packaging is the best!  Now, she just needs to come out with a Brooklyn-themed set .:hint, hint:. The set will retail for $48.

Mally Beauty

I sat and chatted with Mally Roncal of Mally Beauty who was wearing a beautiful Zac Posen dress.  Last year when I saw her I was two weeks away from giving birth.  We chatted about me being a new mom, and making sure I try to be there for everything since childhood flies by.  After that, she discussed all of her new products. It’s nice when people recognize you, for me, it just makes me want to buy their products even more.

This month Mally Beauty is releasing during Today’s Special Value (TSV) a trio of anti-aging makeup products, including her Face Defender Foundation (approximately $45), Perfect Prep Primer with SPF 15 and Age-Renewal Concealer.

Also new, having launched in April, is Mally’s 24/7 Professional Gel Nail System. It retails for approximately $165 and includes everything you need for do-it-yourself, at-home manicures including three polish shades. Mally and product development are in the lab, working on 25 more new shades to launch later this year, in addition to the nine that are currently available.  She was actually sporting one during the event in a shade similar to her Zac Posen dress.  Fancy that!

Laura Gellar

May 2, 2012 Laura Gellar released during a QVC Today’s Special Value (TSV) Glow -N- Behold, which includes her new Dream Cream Concealer and Highlighter Palette.  The Dream Cream Concealer and Highlighter Palette come with four stripes of customizable pigment, and are available in two shades: Porcelain/Fair and Regular/Tan.  Looks can be deceiving, although the product looks dry – almost like a baked powder product, it is smooth and creamy.  It would be nice if the product came in darker tones.   See my review of her Dream Team baked duo here.

I snapped some photos of eyeshadow I loved that I’ve seen on QVC.  They’re even better looking in-person.

Beachwaver - This was pretty cool & would cut curling time in half.

  1. I had so much fun! Love Wen AND the new scent is AMAZING! My hair is so soft and it smells so good. The bliss oxygen mask feels INCREDIBLE. It tingles and you feel the "oxygen" really work.
