The year has quickly come to a close, and while there were many beauty trends that graced us this year, from winged eyeliner, hair chalking, natural brows and more, there were few that I had the nerve to try, and some that I liked. Here are my personal top beauty trends for 2012.
Cat eye/ Winged Eyeliner
This is my number one top beauty trend for 2012. I’ve rocked a cat eye or a version of it almost daily. I like that it can be recreated in so many different ways just by adding color, extending the length of it, or changing the shape. Some people are over it, but I am not.
You can use MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner or MAC Fluidlast, which I like to use on clients to create a nice cat eye.
Berry Lips/Vampy Lips
Even though I can rock a red lip any day, can someone say ‘Ruby Woo’? Berry shades have been my top choice of a lippie lately. Recently, while shopping my own stash I discovered the NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil in “Narcisse” that I love. I also love to wear blogger, Afrobella’s MAC Lipglass in “All of my Purple Life”, which is shown above.
Natural Brow
Natural brows were trending this year. Honestly, it has been a top beauty trend of mine for a long time; I’m really not into heavily sculpted brows. You know, the ones that look like a sharpie or some form of marker was use? Plus, a good brow can transform any face from drab to fab in minutes!
MAC ‘Spiked’ eyebrow pencil is a staple.
Ombre Everything!
Clearly, I’ve been into ombre – from my hair to my lips, which is why it is one of the items that made my top beauty trends list for 2012. My hair is currently ombre, and I’m about to do something really different [for me] for 2013 that is, you guessed it, OMBRE! I’ve also been playing around with ombre lips. It’s fun, and cool.
Nail Art
I’ve dabbled in nail art this year, whether if it was doing it on my own or going to the nail salon to get a calgel mani. Nail art, even though it’s one of my top beauty trends for 2012, I don’t think it will die since, like makeup it’s ever changing.
Top Bun
The top bun made my top beauty trend list, not only because I rocked it for most of the summer, but also because it s a simple, yet sophisticated hairdo that can be dressed up or down. Plus, during the summer months it kept the hair off of my face, which meant less breakouts.
