The A-MAY-ZING May GLOSSYBOX

Today I am reviewing the May edition GLOSSYBOX subscription beauty box. By now you’ve probably heard of GLOSSYBOX, but if not, I’ll give you a brief insight as to what it is: a luxury beauty box monthly subscription service in the United States.  Each month, GLOSSYBOX ships to its subscribers five deluxe-sized luxury beauty products in a beautifully packaged light pink box.

The May GLOSSYBOX included everything from shower gel to hair care products to skincare, and even mascara.

Skincare

VersaSpa Face Moisturizing Gradual Tanner: The box contained two sample size (0.25 fl oz.) tubes of the hydrating self-tanner. However, I don’t use tanning products since I was blessed with a beautiful, permanent bronze glow 😉 so I didn’t use this product.

Would I Purchase: No

Talika Photo-hydra Day: There was a full-sized Photo-hydra day moisturizer. I’m happy about that because this one was my favorite. It is an amino-acid containing moisturizer uses energy from natural light to recreate the effects of natural light on the skin, which means summer glow all year long. The Talika Photo-hydra Day has become my go-to moisturizer since receiving the May GLOSSYBOX. It is lightweight, absorbs easily, and keeps my skin moisturized without the greasy feel. It works well under makeup, too.

Body care

Rituals Cosmetics Shower Foam in ‘Zensation’: Rituals Shower Foams are not new to me; they’re actually a favorite of mine. This was a product I was excited to see in the May GLOSSYBOX. Although a small can (1.6 fl oz) this product will last a while since a little goes a long way. The ‘Zensation’ shower foam combines organic rice milk with cherry blossom both which hydrates and smoothens the skin. I like the light cherry blossom fragrance experienced both during and after showering.

Would I Purchase: Yes.

Makeup

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara: A travel-sized mascara was in the May GLOSSYBOX. I’ve been using mascara with a similar Hook ‘n’ Roll brush that grabs, separates, lifts and curls the lashes. My lashes are already curly so I didn’t notice a true difference in curl, but it did a good job at keeping my lashes separated, and lengthened them. As a contact wearer, I liked that it didn’t flake. If you’re into wetter mascara formulas you will like this one.

Would I Purchase: Yes, but only after I’m done with my current mascara that offers me the same results for the same price.

Hair

Nioxin System 3 Cleanser and Scalp Therapy Conditioner: I’ve wanted to try Nioxin hair products for a while because of my hair loss issues, so seeing the brand included in this month’s GLOSSYBOX excited me. That was until I realized the products (two 1.7 fl oz. bottles) included are for chemically treated hair. I haven’t yet used it because I’m not sure how well these hair products will fair with my hair. I’ll bring them with me to my next hair appointment, and have my hairdresser make the decision.

Would I Purchase: Yes, but the system suited for my hair type.

Overall, even though I wasn’t able to use two of the five products from the May GLOSSYBOX, I still thought it was great value ($21/monthly subscription vs. $65 product value). I was able to find a new moisturizer that I love and will run to repurchase. The Zensation Shower Foam was lovely, and made me fall in-love even more with the products this brand has. I like that each GLOSSYBOX includes a detailed description card with tips and tricks on how to use each products contained in the box.
