Vacation: Beauty items used during my vacation & my new hair!

Top Forever21.com

I’m back from my vacation (read about it here).  Well, I’ve been back for one week now.  Boy,  am I missing being on vacation.  If you follow me on Instagram (MakeupbyKimPorter) you would have seen some of the pictures from my trip, as well as my new hair!

I haven’t had a weave like this since 2006 or 2007.  This time around I opted to invest in the “good hair”, which can be left curly or straightened out.   Plus, you can use it multiple times; therefore, you get more bang for your buck.   My hair was installed by Sonia from Shic Hair, Nail & Beauty Bar in Brooklyn, NY.  I’ve been doing well with maintaining it.  One thing I do not miss about it is drying it! That is torture!  Anyway, so far I love it.  I thought my husband would hate it, but, he ended up loving it, too.

I used the flexi rods to keep the top portion of my hair curled

What did I bring to make my trip easier?

1.  My Sony a35 Camera to take pictures during the trip 🙂 I need to get a 75×300 lense for it.  Any recommendations?

2. Perfume

These (Chanel Chance & Nanette Lepore Eau de Parfum) have been my favorite scents, especially the Curations  Eau de Parfum by Stefani Greenfeld.

3.  Skincare

Just because I’m on vacation does not mean my skincare routine is as well.  Along with me came the following:

Clarisonic MIA

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

CeraVe Skin AM & PM facial moisturizer

Sugar Scrub

Kiss My Face SPF 30

Bite Blocker – The mosquitos love me!

Artistry Eye Makeup Remover

4.  Cosmetics

The extra zuca bags I had came in handy to store some of my favorite lippies, eyeshadows, blush and bronzer.  Not shown in this pic, but, I toted with me my favorite tinted moisturizer at the moment, OCC Moisture Tint.

I brought my makeup brushes… hence the brush roll

MAC Wonder Woman ‘Golden Lariat’ compact.  I’m pissed because this actually broke.

Customized INGLOT lipstick palette

Nature’s Beauty Works Facial Cleansing Wipes

Review: Bellacures Santa Monica – Nearby beach & Pampering = WIN!

Spend a day blocks from the beach being pampered: Come have your soles feel the softer side at Bellacures in Santa Monica.

By Jennifer Ducharme

I’ve ventured to numerous five-star spas only to be disappointed, but Bellacures Santa Monica offers complimentary beverages, individual attention, and instant stress relief.  Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a glass of ice cold water, a variety of polish colors including Essie & OPI, and an informative staff. I felt like a rock star with all the individual attention.  My manicurist was attentive to my needs, entertaining, and she took the time to smooth away all the stress from my heels.

The ambience is simple: Bellacures Santa Monica is dressed in neutral shades, natural light, and a clean atmosphere.  My body checked out as soon as I sat down.  The second my bum hit the most comfortably cushioned chair, I melted.  I keep an active lifestyle, and I work on my feet so I wanted the best treatment offered and the ‘Softer Soles’ pedicure and a much needed callus repair treatment caught my eye.

The treatments were timed from the sea salt scrub, to the revitalizing clay foot mask, followed by the well anticipated foot massage. The hot towel wrap was a nice touch to lock in moisture for the newly exposed skin.  Individual time and care went into my pampering expedition. My feet felt smooth, looked clean, and Essie’s Fiji polish gave my toes that extra oomph of color for summer.

If you’re looking for a quickie pedicure, the softer soles treatment may not be the best option for you, but Bellacures Santa Monica offers a variety of treatment options based on your nailcare needs.   My experience was delightful.  I came in with a friend and our pedicures were done simultaneously side by side.  This was the perfect gal pal date before a good weekend of mayhem.

Review: IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush (Pictures & Swatches)

Ahh last time I brought to you IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer, which I love, love, love! I also love their mascara as well (review to come).  I feel like I am falling more and more in-love with their products! This time, I’m going to introduce you to their Vitality Cheek Flush, which is a blush and stain all-in-one!  It Cosmetics has created an innovative powder blush with all the properties of a liquid cheek stain that you love without the mess or difficult application.

The Vitality Cheek Flush is the perfect powder formulation of a cheek stain, and has the long-lasting durability of a liquid or gel cheek stain.   When I first used this product, I was surprised how long it lasted throughout the day in over 90 degree weather (add some humidity)  in New York City.  Usually, I’d have to re-apply my cheek color because it would fade by the end of the day.  Using the IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek stain afforded me cheek color that was just as good at the end of the day as it was when I applied it earlier in the day.   I also like that a little goes a long, long way.  Remember that when applying.

 Description:

What is it: This truly innovative formula contains It Cosmetics’ Hydra-Luxe technology, including ingredients such as plum oil, cherry oil, hyaluronic acid, pomegranate, seaweed extract, grape seed, aloe, and jojoba that all work together to treat, hydrate, condition, and nourish your skin. Plus, Vitality Cheek Flush is packed with antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and E, acai, green tea, and white tea. This made-in-the-USA formula is also paraben-free.

Why is it different: Vitality Cheek Flush takes the place of your powder blush, cheek stain, antioxidant defense, and hydrating skin conditioner all in one innovative technology! The cutting-edge micro-milled, long-wear powder stain is also talc-free, so it never clings to fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it gives you that glow of a stain!

Me Wearing Radiant in Rose Blush & Luxe Performance Eyeshadow Trio in Pretty Amber

These are the shades I tried, and honestly, I like them all.  The mauve is a nice shade for deeper skintones, but I do think all of them can work well with any skintone.

  • Pretty in Peony –  Peachy coral, with a hint of rose
  • Magical in Mauve – Deep berry
  • Radiant in Rose –  Deep berry rose

Would I recommend?

Although it is a little pricey, we’re talking about $35.00/.0136 oz –  I would definitely recommend the IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush.  The product is highly pigmented, long-wearing, and easy to blend.  You are sure to get your monies worth.

This product, along with other IT Cosmetics may be purchased at QVC.com
