Preview: MAC Venomous Villains Collection

Women’s Wear Daily posted pictures of the MAC Venomous Villains Collection I mentioned in a post this past May, 2010.

The collection, which launches in September, will feature four of Disney’s most notoriously evil characters: Cruella De Vil (from 101 Dalmations); the Evil Queen (from Snow White); Maleficent (from Sleeping Beauty); and Dr. Faciller (from The Princess and The Frog).

This collection will also feature a new product called Magically Cool Liquid Powders.   This product, according to Jennifer Balbier, vice president of product development for MAC, is a “feather light powder that goes on like a mist and either sets or enhances foundation, but also lends dimensionality on naked skin.”  Sounds like a must-have product in my opinion.

What do you guys think?

Are you going to pick-up anything from this collection?

My Skincare Routine Part II

In April I did a post about My Current Daily Skincare Routine.  It has changed minus the exception of two items.  I still use Clean & Clear’s Continuous Control Cleaner & EM Gel (prescribed by my dermatologist).

Morning Routine

1. Glycerin & Honey Complexion Bar.  I either use this with the face sponge pictured above (great for exfoliation & it costs $1.59 at CVS) or I just lather it up on my face with my hands.

2. Apply Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate & Blot off excess with a tissue.

3. Apply Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock ontop of the Embryolisse to get some UV protection since it’s summer time!

If I want to, I go ahead and apply my makeup as usual. Since the Embryolisse creme is both a moisturizer and primer, you can forego that when applying your makeup, unless you need a mattifying primer for your t-zone.

Evening Routine

1.  Clean my face first with the Glycerin & Honey complexion bar, especially if I have makeup on. It removes all surface oils, dirt & grime.  My face feels clean without it being dried out.

2.  Cleanse my face with Clean & Clear’s Continuous Control Cleanser.

***I started using this in the evening’s only since I began to notice (since the weather has become increasingly hotter) that my skin gets even more oily when used during the day.

3. <— Optional Step. Freeman’s Pineapple Facial Enzyme Mask.  Wait 10 minutes & wash off.

4.  Apply a very thin layer of EMGel in the needed areas.

*** I stopped using this during the day because it tends to flake.  I don’t need to walk around with my face looking like it’s peeling.  So unnatractive.

5.  Apply Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate

What’s your current skincare routine consist of?

Has it changed since the summer began?

What’s in my bag?

Some of the readers of my blog wanted me to do a post about the things i lug around in my bag from day-to-day.  Forgive me for finally getting around to doing one.

This is a Furla bag my boyfriend purchased for me when we first started dating two years ago. It needs to be cleaned badly.  Anyone know if they clean bags?

Close-up of what’s inside

This is a large bag. I love large bags because I love to carry around a bunch of what men would say are unnecessary things.

1.  Book I’m currently reading: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.  This book has inspired me in so many ways. I’m not even done with it yet.

2. Hot Pink Clinique Makeup Bag: This is a great makeup bag for traveling since it has a zipper compartment at the bottom that can hold brushes or pencils.

3. My blackberry charger: My blackberry isn’t in the picture because it’s ALWAYS in my hand.

4. Black Furla Wallet: This was also a gift from my boyfriend.  He got it for me Christmas of last year.

5. Michael Stars Butterfly Shades: I actually purchased these from Hautelook.com last year. I can’t remember the price. I love them.

6. A Pen: Everyone needs a pen in their bag. You never know when you’re going to have to write something down.

7.  My house key: I have another set of keys that has tons of keys and things on it. I prefer going through the bottom, which requires only one key, and it doesn’t weigh my bag down.

8.  Lip gloss: It’s funny, I just noticed they are all similar colors.  The one directly under the sunglass case is Coy Lip Gloss by Youngblood Cosmetics.  It looks clear on me & has a great shine.  The other two are MAC; Beaute & Pinkarat mini’s.

9.  MAC Blot powder: I use this to take away surface oils during the day, and it has a mirror, so I use it for that purpose too.

10.  Spare pair of earrings: Every woman should carry a spare pair of earrings.  Sometimes I leave the house in a rush & forget to put some on.  I have a pair in each bag just for that purpose.  I feel & look bare without them.

11. Carmex: I like this over blistex, which burns my lips.  It’s my go-to item when I don’t want to wear any lipgloss or makeup at all. It’s great for the winter months too!

12. Hand Lotion: This one is Jergens. I ran out of my Johnson & Johnson’s baby creamy oil, so I put this in my bag. It’s working for it’s purpose.  Every woman needs some type of moisturizer in their bag, especially if you wash your hands a lot.

This is what’s in the Clinique Makeup Bag I carry around.

***There is a MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC50) under the MSF Natural that I use to touch-up with if needed.

1. MAC MSF Natural – Dark

2. MAC Blush Ombre – Ripe Peach.  This gives a nice flush of color.

3. Coastal Scents Kabuki Brush – I use this to put on the MSF Natural.  It’s cracking. It was a cheap brush so I expected that.

4. MAC L/S in Funbathing – I think this looks good with anything.

5. AVON SuperShock Mascara – Black Noir.  Even if you don’t have eyeshadow on, mascara can open up your eyes.

6. SS109 Brush – I use this to apply my blush.

Kitty Bradshaw’s 2 Year Blog Anniversary [Networking] Event

Kitty Bradshaw, of KittyBradshaw.com celebrated her two year blog anniversary yesterday by hosting a networking event for other bloggers.  I would have to say that this selfless act makes me admire her even more.  I love her no-holds barred attitude, and no matter how she comes off via her tweets, she is actually a really nice person (from what I can tell).  Seriously, don’t judge the book by it’s cover.

Let me tell you, I’m from Brooklyn.  I’ve lived here all of my life and I got lost! I always get lost taking public transportation. It’s horrible I know.  Sometimes I laugh in disgust at myself.  I call myself a New Yorker.

I attended the event at the Apart boutique with my junior high school & high school friend Janique, who has a wonderful fashion blog, Her Goody Bag.  You can check her blog for more pics of the Apart line, and a review of the event. FYI: I was going to “steal” her pics (with her permission), but just go over there and look at them.

What I liked about this event was that it was a very diverse group of people. There was a good amount of male and female bloggers from different blogging genres.

This was definitely a great opportunity for networking.  I met so many different bloggers I haven’t met before (or heard of).  I also ran into The Fab Chic.  She and I always chat via twitter, but I’ve never met her in person.  I loved her outfit by the way.  Other familiar faces was My Pink Monkey! Check out her blog, and Chris “Classic” Davis; I haven’t seen him in a while though so it was nice running into him there.

Nikita Banks of The Single Girls Guide to Men came over to chat it up with Janique and I, and… try to hook Janique up with her “perfect guy.” (.) She invited us to her cocktails & conversations event.  I’m not sure if I can go since I’m not single, but we shall see.

Nina Shoes was one of the many sponsors. If you know me, you’d know that next to makeup I love  bags and shoes.  They had a fly pair of pink high-heeled sandals I liked, and an interesting pair of light-up open-toe booties.

What was served?   There was an open bar with flavored vodka’s.  There was a crudites platter, Cabot Cheese was a sponsor, so of course there was cheese and crackers,  and then there were these delicious cupcakes from Tonnie’s Minnies. They were so good; very moist, not too sweet, and just good! I know a good cupcake because my sister makes them too!

Now for the bag…  They had a system, a fashion blogger got a bag with fashion related items, and a beauty blogger received a bag with beauty related items.  My bag included a scarf from Apart, which is purple (my favorite color), a large bottle of baby oil, an Apart notepad & pencil, and a Gap bracelet.   Now that I’m seeing pics of other people’s bags, maybe mine was skimped? It was nice to have received anything at all though.

That is all ’til next time!

Were you at this event?

If so, how’d you like it?
