I’m sure you’ve heard about micellar water, and if not, I’m here to share with you my experience with the OG of micellar waters, Bioderma Sensibio.
First things first, you’re probably wondering what is micellar water, right? Micellar water gets its name from the science behind the product. It’s made of “micelles,” which are tiny oil molecules suspended in water. Those small molecules grab on to all of the unwanted particles clinging to your face and dissolve them.
The Bioderma Sensibio H2O is the first and only dermatological micellar water perfectly compatible with the skin: its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes and naturally help rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film.
How does the Bioderma Sensiobio H2O perform?
At the end of a long day, I use the Bioderma Sensiobio H20 micellar water to remove any makeup (tinted moisturizer, foundation, eyeshadow, etc) I’ve worn during the day. A few drops applied to a cotton pad, removes nearly all traces of makeup, even my waterproof mascaras. However, I’ve found that a second cotton pad moistened with the Bioderma Sensibio gets the off the remaining makeup residue. The nights I’m too lazy to follow-up with a regular cleansing, I find that my skin is fine with just using the Bioderma, but I do not recommend doing that nightly.
I like that although the Bioderma Sensibio micellar water is made for sensitive skin, it’s effective in removing my makeup. Plus, we all know how I am a huge fan of fragrance-free skincare products, which is the Bioderma Sensibio H2O. The micellar water, unlike other makeup removers I’ve used did not leave my skin feeling a bit sticky or tight. Alternatively, my skin was left feeling soft and clean.
Make sure that when you’re removing makeup from around your eye area the cotton pad isn’t heavily saturated with the solution, otherwise it will get into your eyes, and they will be on fire. I’m speaking from experience.
Overall, I’m happy with using the Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water. It functions well as a makeup remover., and I’m definitely repurchasing once this bottle begins to run low. If you have sensitive skin, and you’re in the market for a gentle, yet effective makeup remove that’s also color and fragrance-free, I suggest looking into picking up a bottle of Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water.
Fun Fact: One bottle of Sensibio H2O sold around the world every 5 seconds!
The Bioderma Sensibio is available in 100 ml, 250 ml and 500 ml bottles, as well as a 500 ml reversed pump dispenser. These products can be found at The Makeup Show.
Have you tried Bioderma Sensiobio H2O?
Thank you for the warning about not getting the BioDerma MW in the eyes. I currently have Simple MW and I can't use it anywhere near my eyes. I thought I was going to die when I did. I wish there were a MW that was gentle to my eyes coz I really hate having a separate eye makeup remover and MW but I guess that's how it is!

This my daily makeup remover, I love it. I ordered tons of it when I was in Europe.
I love this Micellar Water. I've almost finished my first 500 ml bottle and need to buy a new one. I haven't had a problem taking eye makeup off with it.

Bioderma is my HG and it is very kind to my acne-prone skin. I bought a 500ml bottle after constantly running out, so it should see me through for some time.

That was really interesting. I always thought MiCellular meant microcellular…It's good to know what it really means. Isn't it impressive how smart they can make skincare?

Yes, Bioderma is the OG in the Micellar water game.
it's almost a little embarrassing how many bottles of this I have; I have family members in France who will gift a few every time they visit. Suffice to say, I'm set for a year at least!
