Get the Look: Zooey Deschanel Golden Globes Makeup Look using tarte Cosmetics

Celebrity makeup artist Jorjee Douglas stated the following about the inspiration for Zooey Deschanel’s Golden Globes Makeup look: “We always love to go very 60s with Zooey’s makeup, so we look at Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy for inspiration. We went with a modern Zooey version that made her blue eyes pop.”

Haul: New LUSH Cosmetics Goodies from my ‘Sweetie Pie’

For our two year wedding anniversary (see post), my husband, knowing I love LUSH Cosmetics products, he picked up some things I’ve wanted to try from there, and items he thought I’d like that went with his theme, “Black Love”.

LUSH Cosmetics Haul

Here’s what he picked up:

Notice, all of the items are black or dark in color to go with his theme, “Black Love”.

LUSH Cosmetics Sweetie Pie Shower JellyLUSH Cosmetics Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly IngredientsLUSH Cosmetics Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly Directions

LUSH Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly $6.95 – $11.95

-Fruity blackcurrant & cherry shower gel in jelly form with iridescent glitter.

Description: Smooth it all over your body (and your hair too!) for a sweet yet sophisticated cleansing experience.

My Thoughts:  I like the scent of this shower jelly.  It reminds me of candy, and it isn’t over powering.  It just makes me happy!  As far as the glitter, I didn’t notice any flecks of it on my skin after using it.  When I used this in the shower, I broke off a small piece and rubbed it in between both hands with my shower gloves.  It didn’t lather enough for me.  Maybe I needed to use more of it?  I’m still on the fence with this one.

LUSH Cosmetics Helping Hands CreamLUSH Cosmetics Helping Hands DirectionsLUSH Helping Hands Cream Ingredients

LUSH Helping Hands Cream $18.95/3.5 oz

Description: Our miracle-working, calming chamomile and cocoa butter cream has been saving hands worldwide for years. It’s perfect for people who work with their hands who suffer from dry, chapped hands as a result. Soothing honey, moisturizing oils and nourishing butters help to protect and care for hardworking hands and make them soft and flexible once again.

My Thoughts: I’ve wanted Helping Hands for the longest time, especially after my sister purchased it.  I used to go in her purse and steal some whenever we were together. This cream leaves your hands feeling soft, and you don’t need a lot.  It’s something I will repurchase.

LUSH Cosmetics Snap The Whip

LUSH ‘You Snap the Whip‘ $10.95/3.3 oz

– An exfoliating, blackcurrant body butter.

Description: When your skin has been very, very naughty get soaked in the shower and start your punishment; pumice and charcoal banish rough bits that make your skin look dull, and reveal the new skin underneath. Once the wickedly effective exfoliation is over, luxurious macadamia nut oil comforts to keep it soft and well behaved and scents you with fruity blackcurrant and bergamot essential oils.

My Thoughts: I used this once.  I think that it is best if used in pieces.  I feel like half of the bar melted away when I used it the first time in the shower.  It did leave my skin feeling soft.  Be careful not to rub it over your skin too hard since it has exfoliating material in it that will hurt your skin if you do rub too hard.  Overall, I like it.  It smells good, too!

LUSH Cosmetics Demon In the DARK

LUSH Demon in the Dark Soap $7.95/ 3.5 oz

Description: Wrapped in a layer of black wax, (which you peel off before you use it, or you won’t get clean!), underneath lies a forest green cleansing treat to suds up dirt-demons. We make it with fresh mint and antioxidant-rich fresh organic apple juice to stimulate the surface of the skin and leave it brighter and cleaner. We then perfume it with invigorating peppermint, stimulating spearmint and warming clove bud.

My Thoughts:  At first whiff, it smells like a minty toothpaste.  When I showered with it, it was definitely refreshing. And no, I didn’t smell like toothpaste afterward.  My skin felt clean, and not stripped.  It didn’t dry out my skin.  Overall, I like it.  I think I’ve found a new soap!

Makeover: Neutral Face Makeup with a Bold Lip using Graftobian & OCC Lip Tar

This is a look I did for someone who had acne scarring.  They were attending a New Years Eve party, and wanted to try something different.  I decided to do a bold lip with neutral face makeup as the backdrop.  That evening, she wore a chartreuse colored dress and fuchsia shoes, so the purple lip I created using OCC Lip Tars went well with her outfit.  The look was a hit!
