Hair Chronicles: Henna gloss for stronger, healthier hair…oh & color too!

My hair after washing, henna gloss & air drying

Sunday’s I set aside to wash my hair.  Last week, a week after my relaxer I decided to finally henna my hair.  I was too chicken to do straight henna, plus, I didn’t have the time so I just did a henna gloss.

Henna gloss is used when you want subtle color change along with deep conditioning. It’s easier to apply,  easier to rinse, and leaves your hair smooth and soft, as opposed to crackily and dry after a straight or full strength henna treatment.

After doing the henna gloss last week I decided to try it again this week, letting the dye release longer before adding the conditioner to it.  I also first washed my hair  with WEN Fig cleansing conditioner  then added the henna gloss.  After the henna gloss mixture was added to my hair, I covered it with a plastic cap and sat under a hooded dryer for about 30 minutes.  I walked around the house for a good 2-3 hours with it in my head before I finally rinsed it out.

Reddish Tint from Henna Gloss

Since I’ve read that henna can be drying, I followed up with a moisturizing treatment mask.  I used Salerm  Mascarilla Wheat germ Capillary Mask for dry hair and Joico K-Pak Revitalux Bio-Advanced Restorative Treatment, both I purchased from Sleekhair.com. After that I le my hair air dry the oiled my scalp.

My hair is soft, and according to my husband, it looks healthier.  It has a reddish tint to it that is mainly seen in the light.

Have you tried henna for your hair?  What do you think of it?

If not, would you try it?

INGLOT INTRODUCES FREEDOM SYSTEM SINGLE PALETTES FOR EYESHADOWS, BLUSH AND PRESSED POWDERS

INGLOT introduces Freedom System single palettes, a unique method to arrange eye shadows, blush or pressed powder in reusable magnetic cases. With the new single Freedom System Palettes you are able to reuse the palette over and over limiting the amount of waste and remaining eco-friendly.
Owing to the magnetic locks, Freedom System cases can be combined freely creating “blocks” of cosmetics closed with one lid. This solution is extremely useful while working on makeup, and it reduces the space occupied by a huge collection of products to a minimum and also secures it perfectly.  Or if preferred, each of the cases can also be closed individually with a separate lid.

What will it cost you?

Freedom System Blush, empty palette $7.00

Freedom System Pressed Powder, empty palette $8.00

Freedom System Eyeshadows, empty palette $6.00

 My Thoughts:

I was first introduced to IT Cosmetics at the QVC Beauty event I attended recently.  Honestly, since they didn’t showcase darker shades at the event, I wasn’t quite sure how well their products would work for me.

Normally, when reaching for a full-coverage concealer I would go for my Make Up For Ever Full Coverage concealer.  “Bye Bye Under Eye” Concealer  is comparable as far as coverage, and both are waterproof.  When I first swatched & blended the “Bye Bye Under Eye” Concealer onto my hand, I was just amazed by the texture and how well it blended.  I couldn’t wait to test it out on my face since I have this troublesome dark spot near my jawline, and those annoying glasses marks.

As you can see from the photos,  the “Bye Bye Under Eye” Concealer covered up my dark spots (imperfections), and under eye dark circles pretty well.  I totally did not think I would need such a little amount to cover each area.  The product is thick and creamy, but not heavy, and provides amazing coverage.  It also moisturizes.  I like that it looks and feels like skin, too!

I wore the concealer on some of the hottest (and humid) days in New York City, and the “Bye Bye Under Eye” Concealer did not budge.   Needless to say, ‘I am sold.’

How did I apply it:

I applied the concealer using the IT Cosmetics “No Tug” Heavenly Luxe Dual Eyeshadow brush.  Yes, it says it’s for eyeshadow, but, the larger end of the brush is perfect for applying a soft layer of concealer & blending it in.  By the way, that brush is amazingly soft, not to mention I love the way it applied the concealer.

Would I recommend?

If you suffer from severe issues like redness and terrible dark circles I’d highly recommend giving this one a try.  A  0.28 oz tube of the “Bye Bye Under Eye” Concealer is $24.  Considering how little you use, it is a great price. You do have to be careful to not apply too much to areas where you have fine lines to avoid creasing or caking.  Make sure you set your concealer with a powder too!  This concealer can also be used all over your face as foundation, or it can be mixed with your favorite moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer.  Because this product is waterproof, it is perfect to use on brides as well.

I do think the brand should expand its range of shades.
