My NYX Bundle of Joy Sale Haul (Picture Heavy)

On April 22,2010 I ordered four of the bundles from the NYX Bundle of Joy Sale (ended May 3, 2010).  I really wouldn’t have suggested this sale to “regular” people.  It’s a lot of stuff.  If you are not an MUA, you really do not need all of that makeup.  Anyway, so today all of my stuff came!!!  I was excited.  I love to received packages (hint if you ever want to get me something lol).

Here’s what I got…. It’s A LOT!

I now have a total of 47 lipsticks which I will de-pot and put into a palette. Of course I will show you the end result if you’re interested.

Warm Weather (Summer) Must Haves

The weather is becoming increasingly warmer & nicer here in NYC & other states of course.   It’s just a taste of what this summer has to offer. It’s best to be prepared for when it actually hits.  It’s time for some summer beauty shopping!

Simplify Your Beauty Routine

As I’m sure you all know, your beauty regimen should change from season to season. What works for you during the winter usually isn’t what you should be using in the summer.

1. Groomed Eyebrows – Eyebrows shape your face & can make a world of difference on how you look.

2. Tinted Moisturizer with SPF (I use MUFE Face & Body sometimes or Artistry’s Tinted Moisturizer -$22)

3. Lipgloss with SPF – Protect your lips & look good at the same time.  Wearing lip gloss can actually increase your risk of skin cancer, because the shinyness makes UV rays hit harder!

4. Bronzer – to give you a nice glow & sunkissed complexion. MUA Sam Fine suggests Covergirl Queen Collection’s Brown & Ebony Brown Bronzer for brown skinned women, which are affordable at $8 each.

5.  Waterproof concealer – Cover dark circles or blemishes with something that won’t budge even if you sweat or take a swim.  I use MUFE’s Full Cover Concealer since it’s waterproof.

6. Don’t forget your waterproof Mascara! –  Max Factors 2000 Calorie Xtreme has always been my fave. I move between a few others now & then.

Sunscreen

You must, must wear sunscreen, especially if you know you’ll be outdoors. Use at least an SPF 30 for prolonged exposure, and be sure to reapply every couple hours and whenever you come out of the water and towel off.

I love Aveeno’s Continuous Protection Sunblock Spray SPF50.

Have A nice bronzed Body

Since last summer, I’ve been using Carol’s Daughter Gelee de Soleil
SPF 15 Browning Oil ($15).  This stuff works.  I get a nice bronzy glow with it.  The great thing about it is you only need a little.

Protect Your Eyes from the Sun

Get a cool pair of shades that frame & fit your face well.  Make sure they represent you & your style.  Most importantly the UV protection should be high.

I have these Fly Chain Shades from Accessories Remix (Value $150)

I’m going to Florida this weekend. I’m definitely bringing these things along with a hot bathing suit of course!

What are your essential items for the summer?

Review: Jane Carter Solution Shampoo & Conditioner

This past March I went to the International Beauty Show, which I reviewed in this post.   At the International Beauty Show, I was able to pick up several Jane Carter Solutions Hair Products, which are listed below:

1. Moisture Nourishing Shampoo $5 (reg $8)
2. Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner $5 (reg $14)
3. Scalp Nourishing Serum $10 (reg $14)

Prior to purchasing the above products, I was already using the Wrapping lotion and Scalp Nourishing Serum. Well, at my salon that’s what they used to wrap my hair with, and I always loved how it left my hair feeling soft & light weight unlike other wrapping lotions/mousse’s I’ve used in the past.  The Scalp Nourishing Serum I started using to help grow a patch of hair back that fell out for some reason, and it worked.

Moisture Nourishing Shampoo: This shampoo gently cleanses your hair and scalp, restoring your hair’s proper moisture balance. Moisture Nourishing Shampoo is a natural based shampoo with extracts of Coltsfoot, Lemon Balm, and Myrrh. This unique combination infuses moisture into your hair, leaving it incredibly shiny and bouncy. It is also gentle enough for everyday use, and smells terrific! Its paraben free (source).

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Certified Organic Aloe Vera, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, PolyQuaterium 7, Glycol Stearate, Glycerin, Wheat Protein, Wheat Amino Acids, Tocopherol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Caprylic Acid, Glycine, Potassium Sorbate, ,Citric Acid (source).

My thoughts:  I love this shampoo.  It’s concentrated, so you only need very little; you definitely get your money’s worth.  The lather is thick & creamy even.  The scent is a nice, mild citrus.  It gets my hair clean without it having that stripped dry feeling.   It’s great for vegan’s & people who are into natural products.  I wish I had bought more than one of these.

Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner: This product does just what is says…it replenishes. It works especially well when used with heat, leaving your hair in better condition than ever before. There is nothing better than soft, shiny, healthy hair. Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner contains ingredients that permanently bond to your hair’s cortex, leaving it stronger and with better elasticity. Once in awhile, you come across a product that is truly “the best,” and this conditioner is certainly one of those rare commodities (source)!

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Extracts of: Green Tea, Sage, Rosemary, Basil, Mullein, Licorice, Thyme, and Vanilla, Certified Organic: Sunflower Oil, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Lavender Oil, Lemon Oil, Wheat Protein, Wheat Amino Acids, Tocopherol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Caprylic Acid, Glycine, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid (source).

My Thoughts:  This combined with the use of the shampoo, leaves my hair super soft.  It’s conditions, moisturizes, and has amazing detangling abilities on our relaxed hair.  Sometimes, I use this along with my Queen Helene Super Cholesterol if I want to super treat my hair. Even though I have a short haircut now, my hair is healthier.  I have less breakage, and less split ends.  I also love the scent of this too. It smells nice, and it isn’t over powering.

MAC Lipstick & Dazzleglass Creme Swatches

In a post I did last week titled, Depotting Eyeshadows for Back-to-MAC, I showed you some eyeshadows that I de-potted and placed into an empty palette.  I returned 12 MAC eyeshadow cases & picked up ‘Up the Amp’ Lipstick and Perfectly Unordinary Dazzleglass Creme.

Up the Amp Lipstick s a creamy, opaque purple with a bit of reddish-violet tones to it.  It kind of reminds me of OCC’s Hoochie Lip Tar, just not as bright. MAC describes it as “Shade description: Electrically-charged lavender violet (Amplified Creme).”

Perfectly Unordinary Dazzleglass Creme is a Pretty, pretty bubble gum pink with a lot of pearl/ goldish shimmer.  The shimmer lasts way longer than the gloss does, and lingers around for hours on end, which I kind of don’t like. But, the color comes out a nice, sheer nude on me.

For fun, I combined the two…

When my NYX bundles come, I’m going to de-pot those & place into palates, since it’s more convenient.

What have you traded your MAC Cosmetics Cases in for?

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway! It ends on May 14th
