Haul: MAC Cosmetics and Sephora Purchases

When MAC re-stocked the Blogger’s Collection online, I instantly went on and snagged two of the All of My Purple Life lipglasses.  I’ve wanted one since I mentioned it was coming out (see post).  Of course, they immediately flew off the [online] shelves, so I missed out.  With this order, I also picked up a Brow Pencil in Spiked that I needed.

I must say, I love it. It is a true purple.  Purple is my favorite color.  All of My Purple Life looks great over MAC Go For It lipstick (ltd edition), and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Katricia Lip Tar.  I lost the latter sometime last week, and now I have to re-order one! Grrr!

I twitpic’d a picture of what the combo of the Go For It l/s looks like with All of My Purple Life.

From Sephora (via Mintbox.com so I can get my 5% cashback) I picked up some ClickR Skincare Products.  One of the items I reviewed (see post), the Daily Dermabrasion Wash, and another is one I wanted to try, the Hot Face Mask. I will review the Hot Face Mask as well as the Vanishing Mist (sent to me for review) very soon.

With this purchase, I received samples of Boscia’s sunscreen, Philosophy’s Hope In a Jar, Love Chloe perfume, and a mini lash primer.

Event Recap: INGLOT Day-to-night look (Press Preview)

Two weeks ago I informed (post) you of INGLOT Cosmetics new venture of hosting makeup classes for consumers and pro-artists.  Thursday, July 28, 2011, I had the opportunity to attend a Press Preview of their Day-to-Night class.

This class was taught by their Resident Artist, Brooklyn.  He’s a former MAC Cosmetics artist, and knows his stuff.  He’s super nice too.  He is always a great help whenever I visit the INGLOT Chelsea Market location.

The class, since it was a preview, was quick.  I’d say it took no more than 30 minutes (if that).  It also gave novices the oportunity to see how easy it is to take a look from Day-to-Night in just minutes.  Brooklyn used the new Rainbow Palette INGLOT has.

Tips from Brooklyn

Daytime Makeup

Sweep a light color eyeshadow that’s close to your skintone from your brow bone down to your lid.

Take another color similar in shade, using a fluffy brush, sweep that shade across your crease.

Using another (slightly darker) shadow (the color of your choosing) he used purple.  Apply that color to the outer 2/3 of your lid and blend.  The color should just be a light flush, and not packed on.

Evening

Using a pencil brush, take a dark color (he used a darker purple) and place one dot on the lid at the tear duct, and another on the outer-v.

Using a blending brush, blend out the dots up into the crease. It creates a smokey eye without the racoon effect.

Line your lashline.

 Applying Blush

Never apply blush directly to the apples of cheeks. Start from jawline by temple and circle around. Dot the rest of the blush on apples of cheeks to ensure a light, natural  flush of color is applied.

Making Your Lips Ready for the evening

Line lips with a darker shade of liner than your lip color.

Blend inward

Apply a multi-dimensional gloss, like INGLOT’s AMC gloss to make lips look fuller.

Guest Post: Tips On Healing Dry Skin

Tips On Healing Dry Skin
Dry skin can make you appear to be older than you really are and cause you to be self-conscious about showing your skin or wearing some of the latest fashion trends. It can make your skin look red, white, flakey and unhealthy. On top of all of this it can feel itchy and case a never ending burning sensation. Before we can get into how you can get your dry skin healthy again we have to start at the beginning: the causes. Dry skin can be caused by a series of things including:
·         Dehydration
·         Hypothyroid
·         Dry Air
·         Detergents and Soaps
·         Heat
·         Medical Conditions such as psoriasis

Now let’s discuss how you can turn your skin around and make it go from dry and uncomfortable to nourished and healthy.

Skip The Hot Shower– Lots of people like the feel of a hot shower because it’s soothing- especially after a long day. However hot showers strip your skin of its natural oils and makes your skin dry. Instead of hot showers take lukewarm showers so you’ll still feel the warmth of the water without feeling the damage.
No Perfume– When shopping for soaps and detergents, look for products that are unscented. The perfumes in some of the leading brands can strip your skin of moisture and cause it to dry out.
Moisturize Properly- For best results, apply moisturizer to your skin when it’s damp, right after the shower because your pores are open and will soak up the nourishment. Applying moisturizer on dry skin doesn’t work nearly as well in the long run.
Bundle Up- During the winter months you may be tempted to turn up the heat, but this is actually one of the most damaging things that you can do to your skin. Instead of turning up the heat, put your heat on 69 and put on some extra layers including knee length socks.
Go Sunless- Well not completely, but you shouldn’t be turning yourself into a walking patch of leather either. It’s important to get your Vitamin D but getting too much sun can eventually break down your skin can cause wrinkles and sagging earlier on in your life.

Hydrate- It’s imperative that you drink at least eight 8oz glasses of water and even more after a workout or on hot days. You need water to hydrate your skin and to move nutrients around your body.
Go Healthy- Besides green leafy veggies, you should load up on lots of fruits, veggies fish high in Omega 3 and dairy products. Your diet has a lot to do with how good your skin looks so eat right and skip the oily or needlessly fatty foods.
Exfoliate- Once a week (or twice if your body is super dry) use a gentle exfoliator in the shower. The exfoliating process removes dead skin cells and leaves glowing skin behind. Do Not do this if you have a medical condition unless you speak to your doctor first.
If your skin is dry and the cause is wither from a medical condition or the use of certain medications, you should talk to your doctor about options and treatments.

Rachel Zoe for Exude Lipstick

It seems as though everyone is getting into cosmetics these days.  Now we have super stylist, Rachel Zoe in the mix.  Anything with her stamp of approval, people will flock to, which is probably why the makers of Exude, Diane Breidenbach and Laurence Mille,  partnered with her to be the spokesperson for their lipstick.

Exude is described as not being your regular lipstick (I wish I had pictures to show you.  Hopefully I will have pictures and/or swatches soon!)

The lipstick is packaged in a clear, plastic tube, where the product is squeezed through a tiny hole at the top onto a textured surface.  This feature eliminates the messiness other lip products cause, such as melting onto other things, drying out etc. You’re also able to control application of the product.

The lipstick will retail for $29, comes in 14 different shades, and will be sold online.

How many of you will purchase this lipstick?
