Fragrance Fridays: Welcome Spring with a new scent!

Spring is finally here, which means it is time to retire your fall and winter fragrances.  The fragrance I’m retiring right now is SpiceBomb by Viktor & Rolf.  Remember I had it on my fragrance wish list?  Well, my husband got it for me as an anniversary gift; he’s great!  I’ve been spraying it non-stop ever since, plus, it goes well with the Pumpkin Pie Butter I purchased from Belle Butters.

What am I replacing Viktor & Rolf’s SpiceBomb with?  Well, since I have Nanette Lepore Nannette Lepore Eau de Toilette and a fill bottle of Marc Jacobs Lola, I will use those as my start-off spring scents until they run out; however, I do have a few fragrances on my radar.

Fragrance Fridays: Relishing in my love for fragrances {Bonus NEW Frederic Malle Collection}

I’m trying to make this blog a little more interesting, which is why I’m dedicating certain days for different topics.  For example, I’ve introduced ‘Wedding Wednesdays’, and now, Fridays will be dedicated to posts specifically on fragrances for both males and females.

Why ‘Fragrance Fridays’

Besides the name being clever, I love the “smell goods”, mostly perfumes.  I’ve cut down a bit since having my daughter because I didn’t want her reacting to it.  When I was pregnant with her, the scents did bother me some due to my pregnancy-induced heightened sense of smell.  Now that is over, I can now relish in my love for fragrances.  No, I am not leaving the men out.

One thing I love most is a nice smelling man.  Hopefully, I can get my husband to put in his two cents about men’s fragrances because I can honestly say, his taste in fragrances is excellent.  He loves Frédéric Malle, especially Musc Ravageur, Vetiver Extraordinaire, and L’eau D’hiver.  Imagine how my pockets feel come birthday and anniversary time?  I must admit, Frédéric Malle scents are among my favorites, as well like Carnal Flower, En Passant and Le Parfum de Therese.

Speaking of Frédéric Malle, there’s a new collection launching this month! The collection is called Perfume Portrait by Frédéric Malle.  Designed to serve as a collaborative effort with experts from artistic fields such as fashion, photography and film, this collection will translate the work of extraordinary individuals, with whom Frédéric admires, into original scents – the first being a fragrance collaboration with fashion designer Dries Van Noten.

Fragrance Fridays Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle

Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle is a modern, oriental fragrance reminiscent of classic perfumes fused with the world of Dries Van Noten.  Dries Van Noten is a fragrance I’d love, especially since it is composed of notes of patchouli, musk, and bergamot along with sandalwood, vanilla and jasmine.

PRICE: 50ml Spray: $185; 100 ml Spray: $265

WHERE TO BUY: As Barneys New York was the first U.S. location to carry Frédéric Malle’s fragrances as well as the first to carry Dries Van Noten’s designs, it is fitting that that the fragrance is available exclusively at Barneys New York and barneys.com.

I’d love your feedback

As always, just because this blog is to help you out and bring you better content, I’d love to hear what you’d like to see in ‘Fragrance Fridays’.   I’m hoping that it becomes popular and I’m able to host a few giveaways here and there; however, that all depends on your engagement.  Definitely, comment and let me know what you like or don’t like, and what you’d want to see more of.

Wedding Wednesdays: An intro to a new Makeup by Kim Porter series

Makeup by Kim Porter Wedding Wednesdays

Hi beauties!

This is the start of a new blog series I’m going to start: ‘Wedding Wednesdays‘.  My ‘Wedding Wednesday’ posts on everything in bridal beauty and fashion.  Since, I don’t consider myself to be too fashion savvy, the fashion aspect will come from my good friend Janique of HerGoodybag.com.

Why I am starting Wedding Wednesdays?

Initially, the focus of this blog was to chronicle my journey to becoming a makeup artist.  When I started, I didn’t know which path I wanted to take, and the blog has honestly gone off-track.  I’ve gone off-track.  I’ve let my enthusiasm for makeup and beauty as a whole take over without focusing on the larger picture.  Overtime, and most recently, I’ve become more, and more focused on bridal makeup.  I love to do clean, beauty work.  Plus, working with brides is fun!

Wedding Wednesdays will allow me to focus on my path, and give tips to the everyday bride.
