Fragrance Friday: Le Labo Santal 33

My husband frequently visits Barney’s.  He’s like obsessed with this place.  He met up with me in the city after visiting Barney’s fragrance counter, and practically shoved his wrists in my face.  Before he’d done this, I’d already smelled something that I’d immediately fell in-love with.  After shoving his wrists in my face, he asked “Do you like this? What about this one?”  One was a vertiver scent, and the other was Santal33.  I responded “OMG! What is that? It smells amazing!! ! It makes me want to jump your bones!”  Have you smelled Le Labo Santal 33?  Seriously, this is a beautiful scent.  It’s like sex in a bottle.  It reminds me of the summer and beach.

Le Labo Santal 33 is a unisex scent, which I’m happy about.  That means I can wear it, too! LOL My husband hates when I use his colognes, but I can’t help that I’m a sucker for woodsy, musky scents.  That’s exactly what Le Labo Santal 33 is, but, I also feel like I get hints of coconut, too, which is why I stated it reminds me of the summer and the beach.  However, there are no notes of coconut mentioned in the description of Le Labo Santal 33.  I also like that it isn’t too sweet, and it lasts all day long.

Notes for Le Labo Santal 33:
Australian sandalwood, papyrus, cedarwood, cardamom, iris, violet, musk, ambrox and leather accord.

This would make the perfect Mother’s Day or Father’s Day Gift, or you can just treat yourself.

Le Labo Santal 33 is an Eau de Parfum which forms part of the permanent collection, available from Le Labo, Barneys. It is retailing $220 for 100 ml.

Wedding Wednesday: Airbrush Makeup for your Wedding Day – What are the benefits?

Many brides have requested having their wedding day makeup airbrushed.  I must admit that since I haven’t done airbrush makeup previously, only when assisting, I missed out on some clients.  I’m happy share my biggest purchase during this past The Makeup Show New York City; I was able to purchase a Temptu Pro airbrush kit.

What is airbrush makeup?

Airbrush makeup comes in different forms; however, I picked up the silicone based foundations from Temptu since I will use mine for beauty and bridal work.  The makeup is applied with an airbrush by dispersing very thin layers of the makeup evenly on the face.

What are the benefits of airbrush makeup?

Airbrush makeup has many benefits, especially when it comes to bridal makeup.  I mean, this is the most important day of your life, who doesn’t want makeup that lasts through sweat, tears, humidity etc. and for over 8-hours?  I know I would.

Airbrush makeup provides the following benefits:

–  Flawless, more natural coverage (than traditional makeup) that looks and feels like skin

– Lasts between 16-18 hours (Celebrity Makeup Artist, Nicky Posley of Temptu Pro stated this during The Makeup Show)

Due to all of the above benefits, airbrush makeup application costs more than traditional makeup application.

Tips before being airbrushed for your wedding

Be sure to get rid of any facial hair, preferably through waxing or threading, before getting airbrushed, since the makeup can adhere to hairs, which wouldn’t look flawless; it will instead, look like peach fuzz.

Fragrance Fridays: Mother’s Day Gift Guide for Fragrances

This Fragrance Friday, I present to you a Mother’s Day Gift Guide for Fragrances. These are a few fragrances I’ve had the opportunity to try, and ended up loving. L’Occitane Magnolia & Mûre

My husband purchased the L’Occitane La Colelction De Grasse Travel Set for me to figure out which eau de toilet from this collection I preferred.  I fell in-love with two:  Vanille & Narcisse, and Magnolia & Mûre.  Magnolia & Mûre  is described as a sophisticated fragrance; a balance between flower and fruit, as the mysterious magnolia essence provides the prelude to wild blackberry notes.  Present throughout the fragrance, blackberry gives a tenderness to the woody structure and softens its seriousness.  If you love blackberry notes, you will love, love, love this! This one is my husband’s favorite, too!

Hanae Mori Eau De Collection # 6

My husband picked up from Sephora, a sample of all of the Hanea Mori fragrances, which were three in total.  Out of all of them, the one I liked most was the limited edition Hanae Mori Eau De Collection # 6. To me, it is the perfect summer scent.  It’s an Eau de Toilet, so it doesn’t last as long, but the scent makes up for it.

The top note is tree-ripe jasmine from Morocco, neroli from southern France and bergamot from Calabria. The middle note is Egyptian jasmine for a hint of mystery, Tunisia orange blossom, green roses, American peony and heliotrope: a purple flower beloved by butterflies. The base note is Tahitian vanilla, rich toffee, a touch of sandalwood from India and benzoin, a fragrant resin from tree bark.

Bond No 9 New York Musk

I’m a fan of Musk, and unisex fragrances.  I sometimes find myself spritzing on some of my husband’s colognes, which he hates.  Bond No 9 New York Musk  has notes a lot of my favorite notes of grapefruit, black currant, osmanthus flower, green lilies, nutmeg, musk, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver .

Paco Rabanne Lady Million

Paco Rabanne Lady Million is a seductive, luxurious scent with notes of Neroli, Bitter Orange, Raspberry, Orange Flower Absolute, Sambac Jasmine Absolute, Gardenia, Patchouli, Honey, Amber.  The packaging is gorgeous as well.
