Review: Reviva Labs #107 Light Skin Peel vs Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant

Reviva Labs #107 Light Skin Peel

In February, I was provided a complimentary Reviva Labs #107 Light Skin Peel to review and compare to their #108 Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant. I loved the results of the #108 Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant (see post here), so I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to be let down by the results of the Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant; and even though, after posting about my beginning to review the product, and hearing a not so rave “review” from a follower, I still tried the product. I know as a blogger, and from personal experience that what does or doesn’t work for someone else may or may not work for me. I took the chance.

About the #107 Light Skin Peel

“Peeling” is a European term for one of the most unique European items in the entire cosmetic field. THIS IS NOT A HARSH CHEMICAL PEEL. It doesn’t “peel skin” as we know it, but gently lifts off more hardened, dried skin cells than can be achieved by scrubs or any other “exfoliating” product. Dead-cell accumulation prevents treatment products from penetrating and keeps skin tone from looking fresh and vibrant. For aging and problem skin, PEEL is absolutely vital; it offers multiple benefits, which one can see and feel with just one application. Used by Europe’s top Skin Treatment Specialists as a supplementary cleansing step in any skin care program. Any skin type, any age, can benefit from a once-a-week “Peel”. Our Peel ingredients also stimulate the deeper new cells to move upward at a faster rate – causing the skin surface to look tighter, clearer and healthier.”

My thoughts:

First, I’d just like to say that I love that all of the Reviva Labs products are all natural; therefore, there were no worries about any of their products being harmful to me since I’m of childbearing age (I’m not yet done having children), and I nurse. That’s a plus on my side. Another plus of their products, and I’ve mentioned this before, is their price.  Reviva Labs products are really affordable, quality products. I don’t feel like I have to break the bank to get quality skincare, especially since now my family and I are on a budget.

Reviva Labs #107 Light Skin Peel

Back to the #107 Light Skin Peel – there were two things that bothered me about the product, and they both centered on scent. Thyme is one of the ingredients in the #107 Light Skin Peel, and the scent (to me) is very potent, and it took some getting used to. Alcohol is present as the second ingredient (SDA Alcohol 40). My issue with the alcohol being in the Light Skin Peel is that after it is applied the fumes sting, for a short period of time, my eyes and nose. Also, for some people with dry skin, may dry out their skin even more, which is probably why Reviva Labs only recommends using the product once per week.

I must admit that the first time I used it I really didn’t get it, or like it, and that was only because I completely did it wrong! It’s important to read the directions, kids! I didn’t write it off just yet, and my second go around, I followed the directions to a ‘T’ and loved the results.
The #107 Light Skin Peel is easy to use. You apply it, let it dry and rub off with your fingers or with a dry face cloth. I find using dry face cloth gets everything off easily. After it is removed, I was left with smooth and brighter skin. The next morning my skin was even better! I will say that I find it harder to remove from my nose. The #107 Light Skin Peel has a weird consistency; I would describe it as a thick, textured, sticky dough.

How does it compare to the #108 Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant?

Compared to the #108 Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant, I think that the #107 Light Skin Peel is perfect for the days when you have less time, since it takes between 3-5 minutes from application to see results. The #108 Pomegranate Lactic Acid Exfoliant ($19) can take about the same amount of time.  For the number of applications you get out of both, I’d say they are priced well.

Would I recommend?

Yes, I would recommend both products. Just remember that if you have sensitivities to scents, and alcohol, it may not be for you.

Tutorial Tuesday: Workplace Safe Smoky Eye using Buxom Eyeshadow in ‘Pug’

Tutorial Tuesday Purple Grey Smoky Eye

Right now, I love cream eyeshadows due to their ease of use, and so far, they have left me without disappointment in the longevity area. For this Tutorial Tuesday look I used:
– Buxom Eyeshadow in ‘Pug

Buxom Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow

-Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #26

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream

Tutorial Tuesday Buxom Eyeshadow in ‘Pug’

Steps

1. Prime lids with UDPP
2. Blend primer upward
3. Apply brown eyeshadow to crease, focusing more on the outer corner
4. Blend eyeshadow into crease, and add more if you’d prefer a darker more defined crease
5. Apply Buxom Eyeshadow in ‘Pug’ to the lid and blend up to the crease (make it as dark or as light as you prefer).
6. Apply the Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #26 to the center of the lid and blend
7. Use a black liner (I used one from Physicians Formula) to define the upper lash line
8. Use a smudge brush to “smoke out” the black liner that was applied in step 7
9. Apply Mascara

IT Cosmetics Hello Beautiful 5-piece Anti-aging Color Collection

PR SAMPLE

IT Cosmetics, one of my favorite cosmetics lines has a 5-piece Anti-aging Color Collection, the Hello Beautiful!  collection, that will be offered on QVC beginning midnight tonight (March 18, 2013).   You can understand how excited I was to see a package from IT Cosmetics containing the Hello Beautiful collection before its launch to test.

The collection includes two of my IT Cosmetics favorites like:

IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara– this mascara is like an eyelash lift in a tube.  It provides volume and lift.  I always receive compliments on my lashes whenever I wear this.

Heavenly Luxe Buffing Airbrush Foundation Brush  – all of IT Cosmetics’ brushes are divine!!! (see review)  They’re super soft, don’t shed, easy to clean, and applies and blends products to a beautiful, flawless finish.

A NEW product included in this set, that I am so excited about is the Tightline™ Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer.  If you love the dark smokey eyes, that seem to begin before the lash line, it is in part, due to a technique called tight lining.  I honestly sometimes dread doing this myself.  IT Cosmetics has made it easier to achieve this look with the Tightline Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer since it allows you to coat each lash beginning at the root.  The brush is to thank for this.

The NEW Vitality Flush 4-in-1 Reviver Lip and Cheek Stain Stick in Je Ne Said Quoi provides a nice long-wear flush of pink, suitable for most skin tones, all while providing a boost of hydration infused with a powerful stain  that doesn’t dry out your lips or skin.

IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Swatches

The Hello Beautiful! collection also includes the Celebration Foundation, which is available in 5 shades:  Fair, Light, Medium, Tan or Rich.

FYI:  Rich is the deepest shade for women of color.  I would compare this to maybe NC35/NC40 in MAC. For it being the deepest shade, it is still too light for me, which makes me sad.  I’d love to see how well this foundation fairs with my skin.  Hopefully, IT Cosmetics will expand into darker shade ranges.

ITCosmeticsHelloBeautiful2

I love the packaging; the exterior of the box is very welcoming with ‘Hello Beautiful’  neatly scripted on its front. IT Cosmetics packaging is always simple, practical, yet sophisticated. The brush comes in a protective casing, as do all IT Cosmetics brushes.

Check it out for yourself, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Cost:  $155 special price for 1 day ONLY on March 18, 2013
