My thoughts:

I was provided a gift card to purchase items from the new COVERGIRL Bombshell collection from Walmart.com; therefore, I chose the COVERGIRL Bombshell ShineShadow shades I felt would be more flattering against my skin tone.  Of the six shades available, I chose Color Me Money (olive with shimmer), Gold Goddess (light gold shimmer), and Ooh La Lilac (lilac with silver shimmer).  Of the three shades I chose, Color Me Money and Gold Goddess are my favorites.

The consistency of the of the COVERGIRL Bombshell Shineshadow is creamy, and feels light weight – similar to a mousse.  I like that the shadow, in my opinion, although highly pigmented can be  applied lightly for a flush of color and shimmer on the lids, or built up for a more bold look.  Even though I am not a fan of shimmery shadows, I do like the COVERGIRL Bombshell ShineShadow’s since the shimmer is not overpowering.

COVERGIRL Bombshell ShineShadow claims to provide up to 12-hours of wear.  Unfortunately for me, due to my oily lids, I was not able to experience that, especially without using a primer.  Don’t get me wrong, the color pay-off is good.

Would I recommend?

The COVERGIRL Bombshell ShineShadow is a great line of affordable ($6.99/ .18 oz), creamy eyeshadows that blend and apply with ease, and are great for ladies who are blessed with non-oily lids.  Gold Goddess is one of the most versatile shades from the COVERGIRL Bombshell collection, especially since I was able to use it as a highlighter.  The versatility of the product doesn’t stop there, you can also use the COVERGIRL Bombshell ShineShadow with your favorite powder eyeshadows.  You’re definitely getting your monies worth.

Review: Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum has Solved My Dry Skin Woes

Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum front

I’m pretty sure I am not alone in this, but for me, winter weather equals dry skin.  I’ve read so much about the benefits of hyaluronic acid in helping solve dry skin issues that I set out to try it.   One of the products that I have been using since the weather has become colder is the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum.  In fact, I mentioned it in my youtube video where I shared my evening skincare routine (here).

What is hyaluronic acid serum (source Reviva Labs)?

Other than sun damage, nothing accelerates skin aging like water loss. For skin that needs moisture, there isn’t a more potent ingredient than Hyaluronic Acid. This high-potency serum plumps up skin with moisture to reduce lines or wrinkles.

Aestheticians have stated this serum is the closest a cosmetic comes to a dermatologist injection of Restylane (hyaluronic acid).  Excellent by itself or under other creams.

Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum Back

My thoughts:

I love the results I’m experiencing after using the serum for a few months.  The Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum lives up to its claims of plumping up my skin and adding moisture.  After using the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum at night and upon waking up in the morning my skin is less dry, and I feel like it looks and feels more youthful.  Maybe that’s why my two year old tells me “Mommy, you look like a little girl.”..

I use the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum at night after cleansing and toning my face with my Mario Badescu Facial Spray.  I let it dry, and then apply my Embryolisse moisturizer over it.  At one point I was using the Reviva Labs DMAE cream, which together, work extremely well in helping my skin retain moisture, as well as keep is smooth and supple.   However, I had to stop using it once I realized it contained Retinol/Retin-A since I’m TTC.  Shame on me for not thoroughly reading the ingredients list!

15-Minute Beauty has a great list of ingredients in skincare to avoid.  I’ve also written about over on Beauty and the Bump.

I had an incident after using a mask that, in turn, broke my skin out and created dry patches.  The Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum really impressed me how it cleared up everything in just a few days.

I have one note of caution – it’s easy to pump out a lot of the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum, so be sure to use a light hand when trying to get out the product because too much of the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum can lead to too much product on the skin, and if you’re using the serum during the day, you will probably notice that it pills up.  Who wants to walk around with little white balls all over their face? That is not cute!

Would I recommend the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum?

I would definitely recommend purchasing the Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum if you suffer from dry skin.  The Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum costs $22 for 1 oz compared to the Peter Thomas Roth VIZ-1000™ 75 percent Hyaluronic Acid Complex that’s on my wish list, and retails for $65.

Now, if only I can find a good night cream.

How do you deal with dry skin?

Hair Chronicles: New Product Alert Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic

While on instagram the other night, as I scrolled through the various pictures on my timeline popped up an image of the new Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic.  I instantly became excited!

Miss Jessies Transitioners Magic

What is Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic?

Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic is a  phthalate-free hair styling product that contains a mixture of  Safflower Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, and Wheat Germ Oil that provides the hydration damaged hair craves, infused with Pumpkin Seed Extract and Soybean Seed Extract to revive life into lackluster strands and encourage growth, all of which are important when treating transitioning hair.

Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic was developed for women like me who do not want to do the whole “big chop” meaning cutting off all of the relaxed or chemically treated hair, which in most people’s cases, would leave you with a tiny afro or something shorter.   Transitioner’s Magic boasts superb hold and shine, and can be used as a styling agent.  And best of all you don’t have to worry about frizz and curl shrinkage.  We all know how real shrinkage is.

Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic isn’t going to be released until next month (February 2014), but, I am excited nonetheless. Why? Well, just in case you haven’t been keeping up with my hair care posts, I have stopped relaxing my hair for almost two years now.   Hair care when you’re transitioning from relaxed or chemically treated hair to natural is important, especially since you’re dealing with not one, but two different textures of hair.  Another reason why I’m excited about the Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic is because I’ve tried and currently use their Leave-in Condish both on my daughter and myself, and love it (read about it here).  When this product comes out, hopefully I will get to test it and report back on the results.

Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic will be available for purchase at MissJessies.com, Ricky’s NYC, Target, CVS and Duane Reade for $22.
