Hair Care Tuesday: Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Simplicity Hair Oil Moisture Conditioner Super Pack

This Hair Care Tuesday we’re talking about the Simplicity Hair Oil brand’s Simplicity Shampoo and Conditioner.  Remember I reviewed the Female Oil Blend Simplicity Hair Oil? The results were awesome!  Well, since the oil came in a kit (Simplicity Hair Oil Moisture Conditioner Super Pack) that contained the Simplicity Shampoo and Conditioner, I thought it’s only right to review these items, too.

Keep reading to learn what I think of the Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo and Conditioner.

Simplicity Hair Oil describes the Simplicity Shampoo as follows:

Simplicity shampoo is formulated with the essential oil of peppermint and ginger root, comfrey root extract, amino acids and B vitamins. This “sulfate-free” fine foam gently lifts dirt, oil or residue from the hair strand while bringing strength to the hair follicle.

Simplicity hair oil simplicity shampoo

The Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo is a clear formula, free of dyes.  It isn’t thick, but, it isn’t watery, and only a little amount is needed to cleanse my hair.

For the last few years, since becoming natural, I’ve stayed away from shampoos that contained sulfates.  I was happy to see that the Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo is free of that ingredient, as it can be drying on the hair.  The Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo also contains stimulating ingredients like peppermint oil, amino acids and other proteins to help strengthen hair, and B vitamins to help stimulate hair growth, all of which I need to help me achieve my hair re-growth goals. Also, the first ingredient is water. Can we say, “Hydrating?”

The Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo is an amazing cleanser for both my hair and scalp. After using it, my hair and scalp felt cleansed but not dry.  My hair was soft, and didn’t feel stripped.  For those of you who love a shampoo that lathers well, then this one is for you.  I know that lather doesn’t mean cleaner hair, but I do like to see it.  I found that when applying the Simplicity Hair Oil to my scalp prior to shampooing helped with the softness of my hair post shampoo.  And after using the Simplicity Conditioner, which I will review next week, my hair has slip, is soft, and has some shine.

The Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo, although it contains peppermint oil, it isn’t at all noticeable fragrance wise.  I did experience a more herbal-like floral scent, which was rather light.  It wasn’t something I could say I loved or hated because it was barely there.

Overall, I’m happy with the results I’ve experienced using the Simplicity Hair Oil Simplicity Shampoo. The Simplicity Hair Oil combined with the Simplicity Shampoo and conditioner have helped improve my hair growth.  The patch of hair that was short, brittle and breaking off has grown.  Even though I have a full sewn in weave, I can feel the hair growth through the net to which the hair is sewn on to. The hair along my hairline has grown, too.

Although, costly, $20.75 for an 8.5 oz bottle, I think the Simplicity Hair Oil products are a good investment if you’re looking for a product, a natural product that works in improving hair growth and strength.  If you’re a DIYer like me, you can also try your hand at mixing your own hair growth oil, and then just pick up the Simplicity Shampoo and Conditioner.

My Favorite Spring Lipsticks: The Pink Edition

Favorite Spring Lipsticks

I Bought This | Affiliate Links

Spring is definitely here! I know for a fact that I am not the only one happy about the warm weather that spring brings, especially, after the weather we’ve had this past winter. To welcome spring I’ve put together a list of my favorite lipsticks to wear during the spring and into the summer. This round of my favorite spring lipsticks features a spring suitable shade, pink.

Keep reading for pictures and swatches of My Favorite Spring Lipsticks: The Pink Edition.

Spring Lipsticks

Show Orchid is a beautiful, bold fuchsia with blue iridescent properties. It glides on nicely, and has opaque coverage that lasts for a few hours. It’s great color if you’re into bright pink shades. I wear MAC Show Orchid during the day for a nice pop of color. It’s also fun color to wear out for a night out with friends.

Spring Lipsticks

Girl About Town was one of the first bright pink lipsticks I’ve ever purchased from MAC, and it’s still one of my favorite spring lipsticks due to the color alone. Plus, like Show Orchid, it’s creamy texture glides onto my lips easily, and offers full-coverage color in one swipe. Girl About Town is one of those shades that can seriously be worn by anyone, anytime, and anywhere.

Spring Lipsticks

I reviewed the LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints previously. Bombshell was one of my favorite shades due to its fuchsia color that perfectly flattered my complexion. The texture is more of a gloss, and isn’t as opaque as some of my other favorite spring lipsticks, but it still doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s pretty, and it makes me feel like a bombshell when wearing it.

Spring Lipsticks

Another bright fuchsia, the OCC Lip Tar Pretty Boy, has made My Favorite Spring Lipsticks list. This is another liquid lipstick, similar to the LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint, except that the finish is more matte, and this one is a lot more pigmented.

Spring Lipsticks

A coral made my favorite spring lipsticks list! Yay! Trollop, wears more pink on me than anything, which makes sense since OCC describes it as a “pink-coral”. It’s a nice bright shade that packs the pigment. I don’t need much makeup besides bronzer, mascara, and concealer when wearing it. It’s definitely a fun shade for spring.

Spring Lipsticks

Up The Amp is the last of my favorite spring lipsticks as for as pinks go. It’s a creamy pink shade that leans a bit purplish. Against my complexion it’s a very subtle shade, which I love because it makes it suitable for work wear. The color is opaque and lasts for a good amount of time, too. I’d say about 5-hours.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and seeing photos of My Favorite Spring Lipsticks: The Pink Edition. I’d love to hear what shades of lipsticks you’ve been wearing this spring.

Fragrance Friday: Kate Spade New York Walk on Air Eau de Parfum

This ‘Fragrance Friday’, we’re going to talk about the Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum, which was released March of this year, and inspired by the femininity of the New York City woman.

Kate Spade describes Walk on Air as follows:

Walk on air by Kate Spade New York is a fragrance that celebrates the graceful confidence of its wearer. Sweet and tender layers of lily of the valley, the flower of happiness and joy.  Magnolia and crinum lily caress the skin like a breath of fresh air. The fragrance exudes delight; it’s an invitation to seize the day and envelop yourself in the promise of something wonderful.

NOTES: Top – linden blossom, maiden’s hair fern, solomon’s seal, calabrese bergamot, tunisian neroli. Middle –  lily of the valley, magnolia grandiflora, egyptian jasmine, narcissus absolute orpur. Base – crinum lily, white iris, violet leaf absolute orpur.

Kate Spade Walk on Air

I first caught a whiff of this fresh, airy floral fragrance while I attended an event held at the Kate Spade New York Madison Ave Flagship store. It was seriously love at first sniff.  I am not sure if it is because the Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum reminded me of one of my favorite vacation spots, Puerto Vallarta, but, that was one of the first things I thought of when I smelled this fragrance.

Balcony view of Banderas Bay from Conchas Chinas

Isn’t it great when a fragrance generates a trip of nostalgia? I’m talking about the good memories.  Some of our best times were the weeks we’ve spent on the beaches in Puerto Vallarta, walking along the Malecon, and taking in the views of Banderas Bay from our condo in Conchas Chinas. Smelling the Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum took me right back to those moments. And the color of the fragrance itself – a clear light blue – reminded me of the sea.

I also love the simplicity of the packaging; a round bottle, a dome-shaped topper that’s adorned with a cute black bow.

Overall, I love the scent of the Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum, and can’t wait to pick up a full-sized bottle of my own. It’s a light and airy feminine fragrance that is casual and relaxed enough for daytime wear.  If you like fragrances that are light, white floral mixes of lily of the valley, magnolia and crinum, then this just might be the fragrance you need for spring and summer.

The Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum is available at Kate Spade or Nordstrom in a 0.34 oz rollerball, 1.7 oz, and a 3.4 oz bottle for $25.00 – $95.

Does the Kate Spade Walk on Air Eau de Parfum sound like a fragrance you’d wear this spring and/or summer?

The NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel Shade is Gorgeous on Brown Skin

Remember my mini NARS Haul? I purchased the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Macao along with the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel. If you’ve read my review of the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, you’d know that I love it; it has been my go-to foundation of choice for the last few months. You would have also noticed the nice pink-beige lipstick I’ve been wearing, too, which is the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel.

NARS describes their line of 40 Audacious Lipsticks as:

Modern lipstick so shamelessly seductive in touch and texture the sensation is audacious. Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin with single-stroke coverage. A spectrum of 40 shades for unstoppable impact.

NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel

Before I get into what I’m loving about the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel, can I just talk about the case? The NARS Audacious Lipstick case is a sleek, mate black metal case with magnetic properties. Have you ever had your lipstick cap come off while toting it around in your bag? Yup! It’s happened to me, and what a mess that was.  Fortunately, with the NARS Audacious Lipstick I don’t have to worry about that.  Never before have I had a lipstick case with magnetic packaging that aligns itself to snap close.

Now, we can talk about the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel.  As I mentioned above, it’s a pretty, neutral, pinkish-beige lipstick. It’s a nice semi-matte formula that glides on smoothly, with a lot of impact in one swipe, which is very similar the the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation since I only needed one drop of that.  At least NARS is consistent, right?

NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel

If you have pigmented lips, you know that finding a lipstick with opacity of epic proportions to cover up that pigment and have the lipstick shade pop, can sometimes be difficult.  I’m a brown girl, with slightly pigmented lips, and even with that, the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel shows up on my lips just as it appears in the tube, which is awesome.

Although the NARS Audacious Lipsticks are described as having satin finishes, I’ve found that, at least on me, the lipstick appears a little matte, which doesn’t bother me because I LOVE matte lipsticks.  Even with this characteristic, I didn’t find the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel to be drying; however, I would suggest applying a thin layer of lip balm prior to applying the lipstick.

As far as the longevity of wear goes, the NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel lasts at least 5 hours, even after eating and/or drinking. I like that it doesn’t feather either; however, I do line my lips with my favorite nude lip pencil.

Overall, I am completely satisfied with my NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel. For me, it’s the perfect nude shade for my brown skin.  I like that on me, it doesn’t look pasty, and it complements any makeup look whether it’s a smoky eye or soft neutral look.  It’s honestly the perfect everyday lipstick. I can’t wait to try out more of the other shades.

The NARS Audacious Lipstick Raquel can be purchased for $32.00/ 0.14 oz at NARS or narscosmetics.com, Sephora or Sephora.com, Barneys or Barneys.com
