Bond No. 9 Hudson Yards
Perfumery, Bond No. 9 has made its mark in the industry by designing artisanal scented evocations of the neighborhood and streets of New York – from Riverside Drive to Chinatown, to Brooklyn (stand up).  For spring, Bond No. 9 has released Hudson Yards, inspired by the current construction site of New York’s largest redevelopment in years.

Hudson Yards encompasses the large area of Western Midtown.  Bordering on Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen, it’s also close enough to the Hudson River to catch a whiff of waterway.  To coincide with the transformation and new beginnings of Hudson Yards, Bond No 9, and perfumer Laurice Rahme created this fresh new scent.

Bond No. 9 Hudson Yards is a beautiful floral scent, and is described as “…is a luminous melange of dewy petals piled upon petals.” At first spray, you’re met with notes of lily of the valley, mingled with fresh and innocent freesia and piquant pink peppercorns, which then transitions into a dewy floral bouquet of peony buds and Bulgarian rose— enhanced by the addition of wine-like lychee.   Hudson Yards has great longevity, and by the end of the day, you’re left to experience woody-citrusy orange flower, iris absolute and white musk.

Perfume bottles should always look as good as the scent and Bond No. 9’s Hudson Yards isn’t lacking there.  The stand-out, contemporary, shimmering, near-neon, iridescent chartreuse is gorgeous, and is probably one of the most beautiful bottles in my fragrance collection.  The bottle also has laser-etched Bond No. 9 pattern in a circular signature token.  The show-stopper is the cloth flower blossom that serves as the cap, colored in the same chartreuse – similar to the green fantasy rose that James Joyce imagines in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.

Overall, Bond No 9 Hudson Yards is the perfect addition to my fragrance collection. It’s a light floral scent that isn’t overpowering, and lasts throughout the day.  Bond No. 9 Hudson Yards is fun; it’s flirty, and fresh.   It also makes a great gift for a young, New York City mom like me.

Bond No. 9 Hudson Yards scent is available in 100 ml/$285; 50 lm/$200; body silk, $135; candle, $115; liquid silk, $95; refillable pocket spray, $95.

  2. I always loved the idea of Bond No 9, but the scent for my old neighborhood, UWS, didn't suit me. I think they are so creative though.
