I took advantage of the Zoya 3 for free promotion. Since I’m into dark shades, especially during the winter, I chose Raven, Cynthia, and Dakota. All of them are my favorites for different reasons; however, since receiving my Zoya polishes, I’ve rocked Zoya ‘Dakota’ more often.
Zoya ‘Dakota’, I would describe as the perfect oxblood red polish, which is very much ‘in’ right now. Usually, I’m not a fan of red polishes, but, this one has me hooked. The only downside is that with two coats, it comes off a little sheer; therefore, to achieve the color payoff, and opacity that I like I used three coats.
This is my current ‘Nail of the Week’ using Zoya ‘Dakota’ with Zoya’s ‘Gloria‘ as an accent on my ring fingers.
Here are the other polishes – ‘Raven‘ and ‘Cynthia‘
I added some nail glitter that I purchased from Avon. I’m working on my nail art skills. By the way, that glitter is sooo messy!
I hope everyone has enjoyed the 2012 holiday season with your families and friends. Mine was great! Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to receive anything not just because I’m an adult, but the focus in my family is usually on the children. I am grateful for everything I received this past Christmas, especially my Urban Decay Naked Palette. I received Naked 1 and Naked 2!
I was shocked as heck to see not one, but two Sephora boxes. I thought they contained a bottle or two of the perfumes that were on my wish list. But, nope! I got the Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 & Naked 2 Palette. I’ve wanted the original Urban Decay Naked Palette for the longest time, plus, I figured I could use either one in my kit. My husband, the person who gifted the its, to me thought the same thing! Thank you, hubby!
I also received this nice brooch from my sister that says, “I Do Makeup”. It’s cute. I’m happy she remembered I wanted one of these. Thanks, Kinda!
My husband also got for me a plum-colored Furla handbag – the Piper Tote. It was on my pinterest board. I love it! The clor is beautiful. The bag is lightweight. The bag is just big enough for me to fit the necessities instead of lugging around things I don’t need, as most women do when they have large purses.
I got these cute red flats from Zara, and yes, that’s a mustache on them.
I also received some scarves, riding pants, and pajamas.
What did you get for Christmas? What were your favorites?
I feel like I haven’t done a haul post in forever. It isn’t like I haven’t purchased anything. When I bought my ‘Grey Friday’ lipstick from MAC I also purchased three eyeshadows for my kit. Anyway, after Thanksgiving Cherry Culture had a decent sale going, which included an additional 20% off of your order so I took it upon myself to order a few products I’ve wanted to try, such as the following:
LA Girl Pro Concealers
These concealers have been all the rage amongst beauty bloggers, bloggers, as well as some makeup artists. Cherry culture had them on sale for $2.50! I wound up buying all 18 shades. I think this was a great purchase. The consistency of the concealers are good, and the coverage is excellent. They blend easily as well. So far, I’m impressed. I’m happy I got all 18 so now I have shades for my kit.
Description: Crease-resistant, opaque coverage in a creamy yet lightweight texture. The long-wearing formula camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness and skin imperfections. Provides complete, natural-looking coverage, evens skin tone, covers dark circles and minimizes fine lines around the eyes. Chamomile extract & vitamin C & E. Includes brush-tip applicator for easy application.
Here are swatches of four of the concealers I posted on instagram if you would like for me to swatch all of them just let me know.
NYX Matte Bronzer
I’ve wanted to purchase these since they came out. I do not like bronzers with a ton of shimmer. These seemed perfect. I purchased both of the darkest shades, ‘Dark Tan’ and ‘Deep Tan’ to see which faired better with my skin tone. Both remind me of the MAC ‘Format’ blush that I love so much, minus the shimmer. These were on sale for $6.80.
Model in a Bottle
I purchased the Model in a Bottle Original Formula for my kit. I love their brow sealer, and I’ve heard nothing but great things about this makeup setting spray. After using it on clients, I know it works. It was a great purchase for $14.50
I got caught out there with the Black Friday sales. Getting emails and text alerts on your phone is such bad business. My wallet isn’t happy right now. I don’t feel too bad since I haven’t made a makeup purchase in like… forever! In my case, I wound up purchasing some items from MAC, which included the limited edition Grey Friday lipstick. I was excited to have this since it was different. I’m all for different lipstick shades, except those in the range of powder blue etc. Things that would just make me look like a ratchet hoodrat female rapper. Anyway, my package finally arrived yesterday evening; a day late. I immediately swatched it.
My thoughts about the Grey Friday lipstick is that it is ehh. I wish it were more opaque. It is creamy. Application is smooth, but is a little streaky. I can see the Grey Friday lisptick working well with a berry or purple shade, maybe even a fuschia. The shade definitely looks different on everyone. Honestly, with a clear gloss, and gunmetal pigment, you can create the same shade at home. I’m happy I didn’t pay full-price for it.
Did you purchase the Grey Friday lipstick? What are your thoughts?
